Tool to convert your C# to VB and your VB to C#

by JoeStagner 5/28/2008 11:03:42 AM

Some time ago, my buddy Jesse posted about his new favorite utility.

As a matter of policy, we record How-Do-I videos while doing the programming in VB and than I have to re-write the sample code in C#.

So, automatic code conversion was really interesting to me.

So - I got the VB to C# and the C# to VB Converters from Tangible Software Solutions.

$179 for one language or $299 for both.

CodeConversion

My thoughts.....

WOW !

They work great and will save me TONS of time!

Thanks Tangible !

If you don't need all the bells and whistles, there are other free online converters as well: labs.developerfusion.co.uk/.../csharp-to-vb.aspx and labs.developerfusion.co.uk/.../vb-to-csharp.aspx.

Our you can use open source from http://sharpdevelop.net/OpenSource/SD/Download/ or http://www.codeplex.com/SharpDevelop (free download). This one will convert full solutions C# or VB.net. But its good to know there's more tools out there.

@HeartattacK..... hhhhmmmm I wish the vb & c# comparison people would just give it a rest... We all have reasons for and against but to be honest its like being back at school with "My AMIGA is better then your ATARI". The development community today should be proud of what they can achieve with either language. Its the framework that is the real winner.. not the syntax of the language!

p.s. I use the "labs.developerfusion.co.uk" and find it very usful. But it sometimes does have problems with conversions of .net 3.5. It will be interesting to try this other tool out. Thanks Joe.

p.s. I use the labs.developerfusion.co.uk. Its great but sometimes has issues when converting some of the features found in the newer versions of the framework or languages. I shall give Tangible one a go. Thanks Joe
