It's worth taking a look at all the web-based mind mapping software as well. They let you get at your maps from any web-connected PC, and share the maps with others. Good for project collaboration.

This shows what's free (and how much the subscriptions are for the others), what can import and export MindManager and FreeMind maps and, of course, where to find them. They let you collaborate with others when making a mindmap, as well.

Mapul is the one that has the curvey look a bit like Cayra, but their free version is rather limited. Bubbl.us, Mind42 and WiseMapping are probably the best of the totally free ones.
